World Photography Day: Celebrating Ireland

16th August 2022

World Photography Day also known as World Photo Day, is an international, annual celebration focusing on photography and its history. This year, it takes place on Friday 19th August, and is a chance to share love for the art and science of photography. The art of capturing moments and memories to share with others, goes back as far as the history of human kind itself. Whether you’re an amateur, professional or simply love to take pictures for social media on your phone, World Photography Day is a great way to showcase memories and moments through time.

Celebrating World Photo Day

Boots Photo and CEWE recently teamed up with national Irish charity, the Irish Cancer Society, to bring a uniquely creative photo contest, Scenic Ireland, a sub-contest of the CEWE Photo Award. The competition has now closed but below are some of the entries that showcase the beauty of the Republic of Ireland.

12 winning images will feature in our 2023 charity calendar to be sold in Boots stores across the country in aid of the Irish Cancer Society – keep an eye out in store! To view more images submitted to the ‘Scenic Ireland’ competition please click here
